Today is such a Glorious occasion. Today we celebrate the strength and courage of heart of our Blessed Virgin Mary. I never thought of her sorrows that way. Honestly, I thought today is a reminder of how much pain we have caused our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and her Blessed Mother, Mama Mary.
Come to think of it, the truth is the Blessed Virgin Mary is probably the strongest woman ever. How else would I describe a mother who would accept the crosses that she had to bear and the ultimate cross that our Lord bore until Calvary where He died. I guess the best part is that He rose from the dead. Truly, Jesus' resurrection is the best source of hope for everyone, Christians and non-Christians alike.
I sincerely don't understand why there is a need for us to squabble about minor things or even why nations should wage war against each other. It boggles my mind why I can be so selfish sometimes, knowing that my God came to earth and suffered humiliation and death on the Holy Cross. I think it's time to focus on the blessings now. We have a wonderful Father who created us and provides for us, a Saviour who gave up everything to save us and the Holy Spirit to guide us always. All I can say is, thank you God.
Best of all, we have the Blessed Virgin Mary as an example of how God lifts up the humble and the pure. One thing that remains stuck in my head is this comment from one of my sisters in our local chapter of "Our Mother of Perpetual Help" or "Inahan sa Kanunayng Panabang" cuz it's such a simple statement yet has such meaning.
She said: "Have you ever wondered why our Blessed Virgin Mother has such small lips?" And the thought that immediately leapt into my mind was this: "She kept everything that happened to her in her heart. She never told anyone about all the celestial favors that God gave her. She kept it all in her heart." And I thought to myself, "If I kept things in my heart more instead of talking, maybe listened more, I would realize that we have nothing to fear and so much to be thankful for."
Wow! Mama Mary's life is such an inspiration. I kind of forgot that in spite of her sorrows and crosses, she never complained. I knew that but I keep forgetting that Mama Mary counted her blessings not her sorrows. And that is enough for me to sleep on tonight. One more thing. I love you Mama Mary! :)
